It's that time again! General conference weekend! And what better way to watch and listen than from your brand new iPhone 5S (or 5C)? The english and international audio feeds for LDS General Conference are alread in ooTunes Radio app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch in preparation for the 183rd Semiannual General Conference of the Church, which will convene in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6, 2013. If you already have the app, all the streams are found under the "Mormon" genre, or by searching for "lds conference" and the name of the language you want to listen in (or tune in by tapping the links here).

This Semiannual General Conference will be held on Saturday Oct. 5th and Sunday, Oct. 6th, 2013 in SLC, UT in the lovely LDS Conference Center.

And for the first time ever, you can catch Saturday night's Priesthood session live online as well!

Listen wherever you are, anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection! Don't miss a word, with pause/rewind functionality (or you can time-shift it, thanks to the automatic recording feature) even if you doze off a bit too much while listening ;) Video streams will be updated as well as soon as they're live so you can watch on your iPad mini, iPhone or iPod touch (just don't watch while driving, PLEASE!)

This Annual General Conference will be held on Saturday April 6th and Sunday, April 7th, 2013 in Salt Lake City in the LDS Conference Center.

April LDS General Conference on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

All the links for streams to the English and 68 international audio streams for the 181st Annual LDS General Conference to the ooTunes Radio app for iPhone and iPad (and iPod touch). If you already have the app, you can find all the streams under the "mormon" genre, or by searching for "lds conference" and the name of the language you want to listen in.

This General Conference is on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, 2011.

Perhaps the best part of listening from my iPhone via ooTunes (at least for me) is that I can pause it for a moment when my kids play "less nice", or even go back later that night day and re-listen to the talks I accidentally slept through, since you can save a recording of the entire session :)

For the complete listing of languages available this year, check out the list at lds.org (Sadly, a couple of languages have apparently been dropped from coverage, though it looks like Navajo and possibly Estonian have been added this conference).

A pinch of Caveat...

I got super excited yesterday when I thought about this, and after posting it, I started to of course worry that maybe I was overly confident that this will work...

My ooTunes Radio iPhone app DOES work with several thousand windows media audio (wma) streams (those are the format the church uses to stream the audio live) and it works on almost everything that I've tested it on, BUT there's always the possibility that the Church's stream will be somehow different and incompatible with my app. Though unlikely I just thought I should make that clear. However, my app already has several KSL streams as well as the live KBYU streams added so at least for english transmissions, I'm very confident we'll have something. (please let me know if any of your local stations also play conference and if they're not on my master list of ooTunes Radio streams list, I'll test them and add them (the more the merrier!)

I've emailed Tom Welch to ask if he can help clarify the exact bitrate and parameters of the live stream, and maybe provide something live to test it out beforehand.

So, don't make it so you have no other way to listen to conference besides your iphone and my app! That would be like not having enough oil for your lamp :)

Also, in case it wasn't clear the streams will be AUDIO only, no video (this time at least :)

And the April General Conference Streams in the list now are just placeholders (that is they won't play anything yet) but they'll be updated to point to the live streams as soon as they are available.
